Unlike trackers Ghost doesn't transmit any radio frequency signals and cannot be detected with diagnostic tools. Ghost doesn't have LED indicators or buttons to indicate its presence in your van or car.

Anti-key cloning

The ghost immobiliser is designed to stop key hacking and cloning. This device connects with your vehicle's data network CAN, and creates an unique pin code using the factory buttons in your dashboard and steering. This prevents thieves from being able to start your vehicle. If the wrong PIN code is entered, the engine will not be started, making it impossible for them to escape with your pride and joy.

A ghost immobiliser is a new technology that is extremely hard for thieves to defeat. OBD port hacking

OBD port hacking is the latest method being used by professional car thieves to steal vehicles. Thieves can access your vehicle's OBD port with little more than a laptop, Ghost immobiliser 2 an application and a few cables, which can be bought online for less than PS50. Once they have access to your vehicle's OBD port, they are able to do whatever they want from changing fault codes and tuning your vehicle to taking your joy and pride away in under a minute.

If you have an Ghost immobiliser installed, it will protect your vehicle from theft using this method, by needing a unique PIN code sequence is entered on your key fob in order to start the engine and then drive away. It communicates with the vehicle's ECU (Engine Control Unit) by using the CAN Data Circuit. This is undetectable by any RF scanning technology or code grabbing. It even has a Service/Valet mode which will allow your vehicle to start without needing the PIN code.

Once the hacker has a connection to your vehicles OBD port, they will send diagnostics to the system at a high baud rate which will crash the CAN, and prevent systems within your vehicle from functioning. This can cause your car's engine to stall or even lock up.
